Junior Jay Varsity Avenges Early Season Loss To Tigers, Improves Record To 7-1

The Junior Jay Varsity beat the West Des Moines Tigers 11-5 in a game played Saturday morning April 16 under sunny and breezy conditions at Tiger field in West Des Moines.  The West Des Moines Tigers are a team comprised of players from nine (9) different high schools (Waukee, Valley, Dowling, Johnston, Carlisle, Southeast Polk, Indianola, Adel and Urbandale) in the Des Moines area.  

Prep scorers were led by Brennan Kelley (3 goals), Carson Johnson (3 Goals), Dante Dovali (2 goals and 2 assists), Mayson Marus (2 goals) and Jack Mausbach (1 goal and 3 assists).  Mitch Rhoades and Paul Gordon each added an assist.  The Junior Jay defense was led by Dante Dovali (4 ground balls), Leo Dunlap (3 ground balls) and Sam Johnson (3 ground balls).  Mayson Marus, Mitch Rhoades, Zac Boyer, Grant Shepherd and Carson Johnson also added 2 ground balls apiece.  Junior Jay Goalie Sam Johnson was credited with 20 saves.  

The win improves the Junior Jay record to 7-1.  Next up for the Junior Jays are the Ankeny Hawks, Saturday, April 16 at 2:30 PM at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny Iowa.
