The Junior Jay Varsity won a “road” game 12-3 against the Papillion Knights Tuesday night, May 10, at Creighton Prep’s Leahy Stadium as a game rescheduled from May 9 due to soaked fields at Papillion High School.
Prep scorers were led by Mayson Marus (2 goals), Mitch Rhoades (1 goal 1 assist), RJ Moffatt (1 goal 1 assist), and Andrew Crane (1 goal 1 assist). Other Prepsters with a goal were Mark Mausbach, Bob Lawton, Toby Greene, Brennan Kelley, Leo Dunlap, Grant Shepherd, and Max Bruning. Paul Gordon had two assists, while Sam Lawson and Jack Mausbach each adding an assist. The Junior Jay defense was led by Sam Johnson (8 ground balls), Eddie Johnson (4 ground balls), David Spitzenberger (4 ground balls), Mitch Rhoades (5 ground balls) and Zac Boyer (2 ground balls), with Carson Johnson, Josh Milota, Tyler Fangman, Taran Theel, Ryan Buresh, and Charlie Johnson adding 1 ground ball apiece. Junior Jay Goalie Sam Johnson was credited with 2 saves.
The Junior Jays had 11 goal scorers with a total of 14 players recording a point in a single game. Coach Haney has stated that this is a record for Creighton Prep. “Tonight we shared the ball and worked for the extra pass to create more scoring opportunities. I am very pleased with the offense tonight. We even had a pair of long poles score while in transition. Overall, I am proud of the effort from the Junior Jays. I look forward to tomorrow’s Senior Night as a good wrap up to the regular season.“
The win improves the Junior Jay Varsity record to 9-3.
