The Junior Jay Varsity won a game 13-0 against the Millard North Mustangs on Wednesday night, May 11, at Creighton Prep’s Leahy Stadium. As this was the last home game of the regular season for the Varisty, the Junior Jays celebrated Senior Night honoring nine seniors. Those honored were (in jersey number order) Mayson Marus, Dante Dovali, Mitch Rhoades, Eddie Johnson, Sam Lawson, Toby Greene, Brennan Kelley, Max Peterson, and Kyle Coleman.
Prep scorers were led by Jack Mausbach (2 goals and 1 Assist), Paul Gordon (2 goals and 1 Assist), Mitch Rhoades (2 goals), RJ Moffatt (1 goal and 1 assist) and Grant Shepherd (1 goal and 1 assist). Other Prepsters with a goal were Sam Johnson, RJ Milota, Leo Dunlap and Carson Johnson. Mayson Marus had three assists, while Mark Mausbach added an assist. The Junior Jay defense was led by Dante Dovali (6 ground balls), Sam Johnson (4 ground balls), Eddie Johnson (6 ground balls), Andrew Crane (5 ground balls), Brennan Kelley (5 ground balls), Toby Greene (2 ground balls) and Zac Boyer (2 ground balls), with Sam Lawson, Max Peterson, Taran Theel, Bob Lawton and Owen Watts adding 1 ground ball apiece. Junior Jay Goalie Sam Johnson was credited with 3 saves.
Coach Haney remarked on Senior Night: “Tonight we honored nine seniors who have been an integral part of the Creighton Prep Lacrosse Team. Each of these players have left a mark on the program and provided the younger players on the team with role models both on and off the field.“
The win improves the Junior Jay Varsity record to 10-3. Next up for the Junior Jays is the State Tournament starting Friday May 20, at UNO Chili Greens. The tournament bracket has not been announced at this time.
